Why I don’t do Elf on a Shelf!

My views on “Buddy” the Elf…

A lot of people I know and many thousands more take to the stores or to their Christmas Cupboards to get their Elf on a Shelf ready for December 1st… Except me!

Firstly, what i’d like to know is, do these people make a plan out for the mess this monster is going to create throughout December or do they just wing it?
If I had one I would have to plan out the full month so I didn’t forget to move the stupid elf!

Secondly, why do all these people feel the need to promote Bad Behaviour before the Big day?

Surely that just asking for trouble?

I thought that Christmas was a season of goodwill, teaching your children about a time of giving and being grateful for what they do receive.

To be honest I don’t really know the ins and outs of the religious side to all the drama of Christmas, i’m not from a religious family and I’ve forgotten the majority of what i was taught about it. (Bad me I know, I’ll get to researching Christmas soon).

I do know that as a child, me and my brothers were taught about the joys of giving, we were taught to appreciate and to be greatful for all that we did receive and we always, always looked after everything we got.

To me having an Elf who does alot of naughtiness, is not only teaching the children that it’s good to be bad but also that being disrespectful of other people’s belongings is fun! How and who even comes up with these ideas?

My children can be pains in the arses without all the commotion of an evil elf destroying the place and to be fair I think it would freak my kids our knowing that a little scraggly elf was coming alive at night to be naughty!

Are you an Elf on the shelf-er? Let me know your views on the “Buddy” Elf in the comments.

Much Love

I don’t personally do the elf thing for the simple reason I would forget to move it and be exposed immediately ! I know lots of people do make their elf’s do naughty and mischievous things and I agree completely it’s not a great example for kids- esp when they are usually already hyper enough about Christmas ! I know a few people who have an elf who doesn’t do any of the naughty things but simply brings a fun activity for the kids to do which is a great way to keep them busy!
Having said that I’m still not going to taking part anytime soon!

Yes I would have to set up an agenda otherwise I’d be caught out straight away too! Haha. Even with the good things I don’t think I’ll be taking part either, I’ve only ever seen him being naughty! 😕

You actually have a fair point, I always thought the elf was suppose to be watching the kids and reporting any bad behaviour back to Santa but what about the rest of the year its not right only behaving coming up to Christmas to receive presents. If your children are brought up how you and your siblings were they will ne very behaved and polite 😄
